Getting the heat just right We don’t believe in “one size fits all.” Some setups need a quick, intense blast of heat, while others are better for a slow, steady soak. We tweak the voltage and filament length to hit exactly the right mark. If you go with the high-wattage tubes, they heat up fast. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring can actually handle the load. There’s nothing worse than a breaker tripping right in the middle of a session. The nitty-gritty on the glass We use heavy-wall quartz glass for our halogen filaments. Why? Because stables are tough environments. You’ve got massive temperature swings and damp air. This glass can take that kind of thermal shock without cracking. For those of you doing custom OEM builds, we can do whatever length or connector you need. We usually stick with R7s or SK15 bases because they lock in tight. A loose connection is a nightmare—it creates an arc that’ll fry your socket in no time. Making it work in the real world Since we handle everything from the factory, we can actually adjust the reflector geometry to fit your specific frame. It means the heat actually hits the horse’s flank and hindquarters, rather than just warming up your barn walls. But look, keep in mind that shortwave IR is powerful stuff. If you cram high-wattage lamps into a tiny space, the air temperature will skyrocket. You’ll want to pair our lamps with a solid timer or a thermocouple controller.
