Why the voltage actually matters
It’s not just a checkbox on a spec sheet. The voltage changes how the lamp is actually built. Take a 110V lamp. It pulls a lot more current to hit the same wattage as a 480V unit. That means the wire gauge has to be different, and your connectors feel a lot more heat. But when you move up to 480V or 575V, things change. You can run longer tubes without the voltage dropping off at the ends. For those of you running large-scale annealing lehrs, this is huge. You get a smooth, even heat across the glass instead of hot spots and cold gaps.
No “one size fits all” here

Here’s the thing: cranking up the voltage and wattage gives you better heat density, but it puts a lot more pressure on your electrical panels. If you decide to jump to a 575V system for better efficiency, just double-check your contactors and wiring first. If you push the voltage without upgrading the circuitry, you’re just asking for tripped breakers and a dead line.
